A New England native, David Porreca has fished throughout the United States, but he is especially passionate about fishing the varied and bountiful waters of the Northeast. For decades he has ranged from Rhode Island’s Ocean State, to the rivers of New York’s Catskill region, from the Farmington River in Connecticut, to the shores of Cape Cod Massachusetts, while of course exploring and mastering the unsurpassed salt and freshwater fishing opportunities, right here in his own home state of Rhode Island. David’s enthusiasm for fishing and keen interest in learning more has gone from being a hobby to a way of life. Today he is a life member of the national organization Trout Unlimited, a “frequent tier,” at United Fly Tiers of Rhode Island, and a popular fly tying instructor. Over the years David has instructed countless anglers in the art of fly casting, and fly tying, as well as insect, and water anatomy. He has himself competed in the Outdoor Life Networks Fly Fishing Masters Competition and has been featured and interviewed numerous times by local publications as an established and acknowledged expert at fishing the waters of Southern New England. David is also a professional fishing guide, a USCG licensed boat captain, and a member of the Mercury Marine Saltwater pro-staff. As owner of River Riptide Anglers, it is David’s privilege to share his knowledge and passion for fishing with anglers of all kinds from beginners to advanced, while offering the finest fishing equipment available based on his own experience and that of other fishing specialists. |
